Ngara Community Technical College has established a gender based violence club as one way of dealing with the vice.
One of the instructors Rosemary Wanda shared about the establishment of the GBV prevention club.
“The club is one of the platforms used by the college to raise awareness on Gender Based Violence,” she said.
Wanda indicated that some of the activities where GBV prevention is addressed include sharing of gender based violence songs, holding football games and holding dancing events.
She said apart from the club, Ngara introduced Ticheze Day which was established with the help of STEP partner ArtGlo.“During Ticheze Day, we spend the whole day talking about prevention of Gender Based Violence. We target members of the community, instructors and students,” Wanda explained.
Ngara Community College is one of 14 TEVET colleges that has developed a program to end gender based violence.
